JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

SALARY RANGE: $40,000 TO $45,000

FRINGE BENEFITS:

$521/month plus 14.43% of salary placed into a fringe benefits account. Account may be used for contribution to a qualified retirement account (457 or IRA) or purchase of health insurance or other benefits eligible under Section 125 (cafeteria plan) of the Internal Revenue Code.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Provides administrative support for the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, Regions, Sections, and Liaisons to the Board. Acts as a liaison with related and outside organizations. Organizes and administers Association continuing education program. Position reports directly and evaluated annually by the MPRA Executive Director. This is an exempt administrative position. Serves as the Executive Director in his/her absence.

ASSOCIATION DESCRIPTION:

The Missouri Park & Recreation Association serves as the voice for parks and recreation in Missouri on the local, state, and national level. MPRA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association, whose members work to provide opportunities for quality leisure activities, is dedicated to promoting public support for parks and recreation and public awareness of the contribution of recreation to a balanced life. The association works to grow and improve the quality and accessibility of urban and rural parks, open spaces, facilities, and programs for all Missourians. It promotes research on park, conservation, recreation, and leisure issues. Located in Jefferson City, Missouri with 2000+ members across the state, our mission is to advocate the quality of life through effective use of parks and recreation opportunities, education, and resources.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree is required in Parks, Recreation, Business, Association Management or related field and/or a minimum of five years of full time experience in the field of parks and recreation.

• Professional certification as CPRP, CRPE, or CMP highly preferred. CPRP will be required within first six months of employment.

• A minimum of three years progressive experience in parks, recreation, or closely-related field with responsibilities in development and supervising education events, as well as recruiting and training of volunteers.

• Considerable knowledge of the goals and objectives of parks and recreation agencies.

• Ability to plan, organize and administer the education offerings of the Association.

• Ability to prepare comprehensive administrative reports.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills with experience in public speaking.

• Budget development and management.

• Development and marketing of educational programs and offerings.

• Conference and special event management.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and RecTrac or similar software.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the membership, Board of Directors, outside agencies, state and local non-profits, and the public.

• Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
